Whit grew up in Shaker Heights Ohio and attended Westminster School where she captained the varsity lacrosse and soccer teams. Powel graduated from Denision University in 2015 where she was a starting midfielder for the women's lacrosse team.
As a two-time captain, Powel led the Big Red to back-to-back NCAC Conference Tournament titles and two NCAA post-season bids while earning NCAC All-Tournament team accolades. A three-time conference first team selection, All-Great Lakes Region Selection, NCAC Conference Scholar-Athlete recipient, and a member of the IWLCA Honor Roll, Powel holds the school record for most ground balls and most caused turnovers in a game. She finished her three-year career with 66 goals, 65 assists and was most recently honored in 2015 with the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Scholar Athlete Award.
Whit is in her second year as a teacher apprentice for 5th grade at New Canaan Country School. In addition to teaching students in the classroom, she coaches both middle school and varsity lacrosse as well as middle school soccer.
